چکیده

In this paper, we present a novel deformable model for soft tissue simulation in a real-time manner. The innovative model consists of two submodels: the surface one and the internal one, which are based on Mass-Spring system and Medial Representation respectively. This proposed model is more accurate and efficient than the pure surface Mass-Spring one by taking advantages of Medial Representation to reflect inner attributes of soft tissue. We also optimize the Mass-Spring system in order to refine the appearance of soft tissue movement and reduce its complexity. A real clinical model using a segmented left-kidney is presented as an example in our case study.

Real-Time Virtual Surgery Simulation Employing MM-Model and Adaptive Spatial Hash

In this paper, MM-Model is presented for real-time simulation of 3D deformable objects on both global level and local region. This model consists of a deformable centerline and dynamic surface reconstruction mechanism based on Mass-Spring and Medial-Representation respectively. When a relatively small force is applied on the object the model works in the same way as the traditional Mass-Spring....

A hybrid deformable model for real-time surgical simulation

Modeling organ deformation in real remains a challenge in virtual minimally invasive (MIS) surgery simulation. In this paper, we propose a new hybrid deformable model to simulate deformable organs in the real-time surgical training system. Our hybrid model uses boundary element method (BEM) to compute global deformation based on a coarse surface mesh and uses a mass-spring model to simulate the...

Real-Time Deformable Soft-Body Simulation using Distributed Mass-Spring Approximations

This paper investigates several methodologies for simulating soft-body objects using a mass-spring approach. The mechanisms are then expanded to include deformation information that can produce results suitable for use in realtime applications where visual impact rather than accuracy is desired, such as video games. Many methods use complex and esoteric methods to achieve physically accurate si...

The Framework for Real-Time Simulation of Deformable Soft-Tissue Using a Hybrid Elastic Model

In this paper, we present a novel approach for real-time simulation of deformable soft-tissue. The framework includes segmentation of medical data, physical and mathematical modeling, performance optimization as well as collision detection. The physical and mathematical modeling which is the most significant phase in the approach is based on an improved elasticity theory which uses the skeleton...

Interactive rendering of deformable objects based on a filling sphere modeling approach

Mass-spring systems have widely and effectively been used for modeling in mal-time deformable objects. Easier to implement and faster than finite elements, these systems, on the other side, suffer from several drawbacks when coming to render physically believable behaviors. Neither isotropic or anisotropic materials can be controlled easily and the large number of springs and mass points compos...
